And Now, the Congressional Feeding Frenzy

Gavin and Cy DelcarationHold on to your babies. Because the kissing is about to begin.

This week my opponent Doc Hastings announced his retirement from Congress. While that was not shocking, it still came as big news for Washington. A congressional seat was open for business. I considered that seat open from the start. Because when a representative does not represent, every self-governing community should open the door. That’s how America was meant to be run from the beginning. We hold the power and we delegate it to representatives who will support our liberty.

How telling the feeding frenzy that has begun – My family and I have been on the campaign trail since December and planning since long before that. It was interesting because there were no other serious contenders in the ring. I was on the playing field alone addressing the issues. Suddenly everyone is “stepping up”. Doc needed to be challenged, but none dared touch him despite his voting record.

It’s about to get ugly. Everyone who was happy to let Doc ride before will now be touting their wares in classic political style. The events will be filled with words that speak of veiled principles that say very little. One thing you won’t see change is my platform. We have set a course for lady liberty. A platform based on the Republic and America.

We have a plan to start a conversation in DC that will make America turn it’s head.

The media is about to be filled with hype, with well and not so well placed words and accusations. I’m about to be called fringe, tea party, wing nut or irrelevant – But as always, liberty is not the fringe. Liberty is the foundation. That’s been our core message and that won’t change.

This just turned into a house of cards. Will the best liar win? I pray not. The 4th district needs to have the wisdom to see thru the fluff. Break out your Constitutions, look at what your government has been doing, read that 10th amendment. Ask yourselves, what is America? What did the framers buy with their blood, what is our foundation. It’s that God given right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

As for me, you’ll still see a candid man having conversations about liberty, handing out Constitutions. A man who runs a business and a campaign at the same time. The man who was running before the incumbent retired and who will keep running because the message is rock solid. I won’t be out there alone anymore, but I’ll still stand for our Liberty here and when I’m in DC. Because if it’s not worth fighting for, its not worth having.

Be careful what we say. Check the facts, check your Constitutions, check the records. Know the person you are voting for. Because this matters.

The 4th district wants liberty. They want America back. I can see it in their eyes and hear it in their voices. Few trust anyone and everyone has something to sell. But I stand on values. I stand on my record. I stand on liberty. Because you can’t do better than that.

Because you had the courage to stand up and run, long before Doc announced his retirement, you have my vote. The Wash DC GOP Politburo is burning up the phone lines interrogating potential candidates: Will they commit to supporting Speaker Boehner, and only talk about issues approved by him, and follow the GOP Party line, no matter what. And Yes, for campaign money and support from future VP candidate Cathy McMorris Rogers there are people that will sell out. I can no longer support these Democrat-Lite candidates.
